On September 22, the first China–Europe freight train (Hefei) JSQ special train (commonly known as “cage cars”) carrying new-energy vehicles departed. Fully loaded with 290 “Made in Hefei” new-energy vehicles, the train slowly set off from the Xiatang railway at Hefei Beicheng Railway Comprehensive Logistics Park. Its destinations are Almaty and Tashkent, with transit times of 16 days and 22 days, respectively. The maiden-departure ceremony, held as an important part of the 2025 Hefei International New Energy Vehicle Conference, is significant for creating a new overseas channel for Hefei’s new-energy vehicles, effectively lowering logistics costs for enterprises, and helping them participate more actively in international competition.
In recent years the China–Europe freight train (Hefei) service has steadily expanded both in number of departures and coverage. It now reaches 20 countries and 176 station cities, with total departures exceeding 5,300 trains, creating an open corridor connecting the Eurasian continent for the province’s import-export companies. So far this year Hefei’s new-energy vehicle exports have continued to grow. To better serve the overseas expansion of new-energy vehicles, Hefei Logistics Group has actively coordinated with railway authorities to operate an international rail-carriage special train for commercial vehicles using the railway dedicated line at Hefei Xiatang Industrial Park. The launch of this new-energy vehicle special train marks a new breakthrough for the China–Europe freight train (Hefei) in building an international trunk route that connects the province’s new-energy vehicle industry with Central Asian markets and in the field of international rail transport of new-energy vehicles.
Hefei Beicheng Railway Comprehensive Logistics Park was invested in and built by a local railway company under Hefei Logistics Group. Located in Xiatang Town, Changfeng County, it is an important node of Hefei’s national China–Europe freight train consolidation center. The park covers about 703 mu (approximately 46.9 hectares) and will be built in two phases. Phase I is equipped with four rail operation tracks and one arrival/departure track and includes an 80,000-square-meter vehicle storage area, with an annual shipping capacity of 600,000 vehicles; it can provide rail-transport services for the city’s vehicle OEMs. Phase II will include seven high-standard warehouses totaling 100,000 square meters, and will use two existing tracks to add a container and heavy-cargo loading/unloading area of about 46,000 square meters with an annual throughput exceeding 100,000 TEUs. This will effectively supplement the core region’s warehousing and logistics capacity for the China–Europe freight trains, support construction and operation of Hefei’s national China–Europe freight train consolidation center, and serve as another important foundational support for China–Europe freight train (Hefei) shipments.
Going forward, Hefei will continue to improve the quality and efficiency of its China–Europe freight train service and contribute more Hefei strength to jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative and deepening international economic cooperation.
