Citroen has taken the covers off its Formula E car for the upcoming season, in what will be the French manufacturer's first campaign in single-seater motorsport.
Citroen has officially unveiled it’s first single-seater, ahead of its debut campaign in Formula E.
In a glitzy launch event in Paris, the Stellantis-owned manufacturer famous for its rallying and touring car success took the covers off its Gen3 Evo challenger, which will hit the track next week in pre-season testing.
Pre-season testing gets underway next Monday at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, while the season-opener takes place in São Paulo on December 6 – it is the final campaign before Gen4.
The iconic French manufacturer has replaced Maserati on the Formula E grid, following a decision by Stellantis to switch up its second team on the grid (Stellantis also owns Maserati).
As part of the shake-up which will see a new livery on the grid as revealed at the launch, a new driver pairing has also been acquired.
Two-time Formula E champion Jean-Eric Vergne has joined from Stellantis’ factory squad, DS Penske, while Nick Cassidy has arrived from Jaguar.
Maserati team principal Cyril Blais will continue in his position as part of Citroen’s arrival. It is a historic moment for the French brand, which has never previously competed in single-seater racing.
