FLINT, Mich. (WNEM) – The City of Flint is getting new vehicles that it says will significantly enhance city services, public safety, and community transportation for residents.
On Nov. 21, Mayor Sheldon Neeley announced that new vehicles have been purchased with grant money from the state. The city’s operational vehicles had not been comprehensively replaced or upgraded since 2007.
“A major upgrade to our fleet inside the City of Flint,” said Neeley. “We have 28 new vehicles crossing every department, from law enforcement, street maintenance, public safety, and firefighting devices in our city.”
The city bought multiple street and blight department vehicles that will help improve leaf collection, snow clearing, and street sweeping.
The police department is getting eight new Chevrolet Tahoes, four Harley Davison motorcycles, and a community bus that will strengthen the department, expand patrols and community engagement.
The city’s sewer department is also getting two new trucks to support sewer maintenance operations, emergency response, and infrastructure readiness.
