Your next DoorDash order could be delivered by a robot.
At least that’s the mission behind a new partnership between Waymo and DoorDash.
On Thursday, Oct. 16, the companies announced they would launch the testing phase of an autonomous delivery service in the Phoenix metro area, with plans to expand it more broadly later this year.
Additionally, the companies introduced a limited-time $10 Waymo promotion for DashPass members in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Phoenix. For the rest of 2025, DashPass members in those cities can receive $10 off one Waymo ride per month, according to a news release from the companies. Members will receive a new promotion code at the beginning of each month through Dec. 31.
The companies are currently testing the new autonomous delivery service in the Phoenix area. Though the testing is contained to one city, the companies are planning to launch broader operations later this year, the release said, but it was not clear which cities would be getting the delivery feature next.
DoorDash customers in an eligible area who want to try out the Waymo service can do so using the app’s “Autonomous Delivery Platform.” Customers will then be matched with a Waymo for deliveries from participating merchants using the platform.
The system helps orchestrate different types of delivery methods together at scale, the companies said, including Waymo, drones, robots and dashers, what DoorDash calls its delivery employees.
As testing continues, the Waymo service is set to start with deliveries from DashMart, DoorDash’s store, which sells groceries and other goods and will expand over time.
“We are excited to make everyday errands easier with the Waymo Driver, offering the added peace of mind that comes with our safe and reliable technology,” said Nicole Gavel, head of business development and strategic partnerships at Waymo. “Through our partnership with DoorDash, we leverage our proven delivery experience to provide customers with a seamless, contact-free way to get items they need, whether it’s groceries or a quick bite.”
DashPass offers exclusive deals, member-only benefits and $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees, the release continued.
Google, which owns Waymo, was trading down 0.18% on Thursday afternoon. DoorDash traded down 2.70%.
