Delays are easing after a police incident involving two cars brought the Monash Freeway to a standstill in Melbourne’s south-east on Thursday morning.
All outbound lanes at Berwick were closed for more than two hours near the site of the operation, which involved two cars and at least two people in handcuffs, before fully reopening about 8.30am.

Traffic in the Melbourne-bound lanes is heavy as “people slow down for a bit of a look at what’s happening”, the Department of Transport’s Brad Arnoldt told ABC radio.
Police said the incident was not related to a ram-raid on a Toorak Road store in South Yarra on Tuesday.
Elsewhere, two outbound lanes of the West Gate Freeway remain closed just prior to the West Gate Bridge due to a breakdown.
