The conspirators of the Delhi blast will not be spared as the probe agencies will get to the bottom of the case, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday (November 11, 2025), as the death toll in the explosion rose to 13.
Government sources told The Hindu that the occupant of the car in which an explosion was reported on the evening of November 10, 2025, was likely Dr. Umar, a resident of Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, Delhi Police registered an FIR under the The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosives Act in connection with the blast.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level security review meeting in the wake of the blast. Mr. Shah had earlier said that “all possibilities are being explored and a thorough investigation will be conducted, taking all options into account.”
The national capital has been placed on high alert with strict vigil being maintained at the airport, railway stations and bus terminals.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar today urged the central government to ensure that the perpetrators behind the blast, near the Red Fort.
He also asserted that the country needs to be “careful” about terror activities.
Not willing to indulge in any political blame game in connection with the blast, for now, he said, this is not the time for it and pitched for measures across the country to ensure peace and that the lives of people are protected.
“We should be careful about the country’s unity, integrity, peace, and terror activities. Whether the blast is in Delhi or elsewhere, we should be careful. In Karnataka, the Home Minister (G Parameshwara) is reviewing (the security measures). The Chief Minister (Siddarmaiah) has also given the order. Measures should be taken across the country to ensure peace,” Mr. Shivakumar said.
Speaking to reporters here, he said the Congress party condemns the incident and urged the central government to investigate and arrest those behind it.
Asked whether there was an intelligence failure, the Deputy CM said blaming is not the solution. Protecting the common people was important.
“Let’s blame at some other time. Now we should focus on protecting the lives of the people,” he added.

An extensive combing and search operation was conducted in parts of Faridabad today, a day after 2,900 kg of explosives and inflammable material were recovered from two rented rooms of a Kashmiri doctor in Faridabad.
Preliminary probe into the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening has suggested links to the alleged terror module uncovered in Faridabad.
Police today said a team is camping at the Al Falah University, where the Kashmiri doctor lived for the past three-and-a-half years, and is questioning staff and doctors there.
The Al Falah University at Dhouj in Haryana’s Faridabad district, around 45 km from Delhi, is a private institute recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Several police personnel are conducting a search in the Dhauj police station area.
Haryana police chief O.P. Singh, in a post on X on today, said, “The situation in the state is peaceful. Police and other agencies are on high alert.”
In another post, he nixed reports about fresh recovery of explosives in Faridabad, saying, “Diwali crackers have been seized in Faridabad. This is not the recovery of explosives.”
“The situation in Haryana is completely peaceful. The agencies are on high alert. Do not spread rumours, nor believe in them,” he added.

Union Home Minister Mait Shah posted on X that he has instructed the senior officers ‘hunt down each and every culprit’.
“Everyone involved in this act will face the full wrath of our agencies,” he said in the post.
It was chaos outside the LNJP Hospital in New Delhi today morning as family members huddled up at the gates, either heartbroken after identifying bodies of their kin killed in last evening’s blast or holding on to hope while waiting anxiously for a word about their loved ones.
The mortuary gates of the hospital remained under tight security, with only authorised personnel allowed entry. Some could be seen pleading with hospital staff for information about missing family members, while many broke down in tears as ambulances kept arriving and departing.
A worker at the LNJP Hospital mortuary, who had completed his early morning shift, described the scenes from the night as “gruesome”.
“The bodies that came in were beyond recognition. Some were just lumps of flesh. Many had their internal organs torn apart or missing. It was hard to tell one from another. That’s how devastating it was,” he said.

Janshakti Janta Dal (JJD) chief Tej Pratap Yadav today said the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort was a result of a “major security lapse”.
“It was a major security lapse. The government must take serious cognisance of it and apprehend the perpetrators,” the former Bihar Minister told reporters in Patna.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today reviewed the security situation and operational preparedness at a high-level meeting in Srinagar.
“Chaired a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar, earlier today,” Mr. Sinha said in a post on X. The meeting comes in the backdrop of a car blast outside the Red Fort Metro station in Delhi and the recent recovery of explosives and arms from a terror module of Jaish-e-Mohammad and Ansar Ghazwatul Hind.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary, Home Department, Chandrakar Bharti, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Special DGP S.J.M. Gillani, ADGP CID NItish Kumar and IGP Kashmir Zone V K Birdi.

The U.K. has updated its travel advisory for British nationals travelling to India after the explosion.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) update calls on its nationals in Delhi to follow the advice of the local authorities.
“There has been an explosion at the Red Fort (Lal Quila) Metro Station, New Delhi,” reads the FCDO update for India.
“If you’re in the immediate area follow the advice of the local authorities and monitor local media,” it adds.
The FCDO country-based advisory is a guidance on travel rather than a government-imposed regulation.
It is intended to flag risks for travellers in order to make “informed decisions” and could lead to travel insurance being invalidated if the advice is overlooked.
The rest of the advisory for India remains unchanged, advising against all travel within 10 km of the India-Pakistan border, “except for at Wagah where travellers can cross the border”.

Hours after the bomb blast near Red Fort, the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received five calls about “unclaimed” vehicles and bags, all of which later turned out to be false alarms, an official said on Tuesday.
According to DFS officials, the calls started pouring in soon after news of the explosion spread, reflecting heightened public anxiety across the city.
Officials emphasised that the spate of alerts reflected the sense of fear and unease among residents following the Red Fort blast.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired another round of high-level security review meeting on Tuesday to assess the situation.
The meeting started at 3 pm at the Ministry of Home Affairs’ office at Kartavya Bhawan.
The meeting was conducted after a break of over two hours. The first round of meetings took place at the Home Minister’s residence at 11 am. The meeting was then attended by Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Sadanand Vasant Date, and Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha. Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat also joined the meeting virtually.

A man from Gurugram was taken by police for questioning since the first owner of the car that was used in the blast near the Red Fort was their tenant between 2016 and 2020, the landlord’s family claimed on Tuesday.
A joint team of Delhi and Gurugram police on Monday evening detained the Haryana-registered car’s first owner, Mohd. Salman, from Gurugram.
Salman had sold his car to a person named Devendra in Delhi’s Okhla one and a half years ago, an officer had said. Later, the vehicle was sold to another person in Ambala, and it was resold to a man named Tariq in Pulwama.
The family of Dinesh, who was Salman’s landlord from 2016 to 2020, spoke to mediapersons at their Gurugram residence.
Dinesh’s mother, Veervati, said her son has been taken by police for questioning. She said Salman lived in their Shanti Nagar house for four years till 2020, after which he shifted to his flat in Gurugram.
Dinesh’s brother, Mahesh said they had no contact with Salman after he left in 2020.

The Congress on Tuesday urged the government to provide clarity on the blast near the Red Fort saying there is fear and concern among the people that such a thing happened in the country’s capital.
Congress’ media and publicity department head Pawan Khera said 18 hours have passed and still there is no clarity whether this was an “attack”.
“There is no clarity from the government, home ministry, Delhi Police. There is fear and concern among the people that such a thing happened in the country’s capital, so it is important to have answers and there should be clarity on it,” Mr. Khera told PTI Videos.
“I don’t think that it is appropriate for the government to give out source-based information on such a serious matter. There should be a press conference by the home minister, home secretary or the Delhi Police commissioner, and share information that is needed,” he said.
“I understand all information cannot be shared due to security reasons but different theories should not be floated,” Mr. Khera added.

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, spoke to Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah on the phone from Angola and enquired about the blast that took place last evening near Red Fort in Delhi, according to sources.
The President is on a state visit to the African nation.
Police in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday detained the father of the man suspected to be driving the car that exploded near the Red Fort for questioning, officials said.
Ghulam Nabi Bhat was picked up by the police from his residence at Koil in Pulwama, hours after his wife was taken for a DNA test, the officials said.
The police have rounded up several doctors who were working with blast suspect Umar Nabi in Faridabad, the officials said.
They said three other persons, who were linked to the sale and purchase of the car involved in the blast, have been detained for questioning.
However, no formal arrests have been made so far.

The Delhi Police’s FIR called the explosion near Red Fort “a bomb blast” as it invoked sections pertaining to conspiracy and punishment for a terror attack under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in the incident that claimed 12 lives, officials said on Tuesday.
Raids are being conducted at multiple locations by the Delhi Police. The national capital has been placed on high alert with strict vigil being maintained at the airport, railway stations and bus terminals.
According to a senior police officer, an FIR has been registered at the Kotwali police station under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosives Act and sections of the BNS.
It has been filed under Sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, including Section 16 (punishment for terrorist acts) and Section 18 (punishment for conspiracy).
Additionally, charges under the Explosive Substances Act, specifically Section 3 for causing an explosion likely to endanger life and Section 4 for the attempt to cause an explosion, have been added.
The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been applied, including Sections 103(1) for murder, 109(1) for attempt to murder, and 161(2) for the abetment of assault on a superior officer.

Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport on Tuesday advised passengers to arrive well in advance to complete security checks following a car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort.
The airport urged passengers to stay in touch with their airlines for flight-related updates.
“Due to enhanced security measures at airports across the country, we request all passengers to plan their travel and arrive at BLR airport well in advance,” the airport said in an advisory shared on its ‘X’ account.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday expressed her condolences over the blast near the Red Fort. The chief minister called the incident unfortunate and assured that all relevant agencies are actively working to manage the situation.
She also mentioned visiting the hospital to meet the injured and reiterated the government’s support for their families, ensuring they do not face any hardships.
Addressing a press conference, CM Rekha Gupta said, “It was an unfortunate incident. All the agencies are doing their work. We went to the hospital yesterday and met the injured persons. The government’s support is with them, and their family should not face any problems.”

China on Tuesday expressed shock over the bomb blast in Delhi on Monday in which 12 people were killed and several injured.
“We are shocked by the incident,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian told a media briefing here, replying to a question.
He conveyed condolences to the victims, extended sincere sympathies to the families of the deceased and the injured, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

TMC MP Mahua Moitra on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the Delhi blast.
In a post on X, Moitra wrote, “India needs a capable Home Minister not a full-time Hate Campaign Minister. Isn’t it @AmitShah’s duty to protect both our borders as well as our cities? Why is he failing so spectacularly on all counts?” Her comments came a day after a high-intensity blast near the Red Fort in Delhi left several people dead and many injured, triggering questions over policing and intelligence gaps.
The mother of one of the suspects, who was driving the explosive-laden car near Red Fort, has been called for a DNA test in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, according to officials.
According to PTI, two brothers of the suspect accompanied their mother to the hospital. The officials said three persons — who were linked to sale and purchase of the car involved in the blast — have been detained for questioning.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday condoled the death of 13 people in the Delhi blast and wished for the speedy recovery of those injured.
“I am very aggrieved by the incident. In this moment of grief, may God provide enough strength to the family members of the deceased to endure this loss,” Kumar was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the chief minister’s office (CMO).
He also wished for speedy recovery of those injured.

Delhi blast linked to Pulwama doctor; FIR under UAPA filed as police investigate explosives and potential terror connections.
The Delhi Police detained the owner of a car in which an explosion occurred near the Red Fort on Monday evening, killing at least nine people and gutting several vehicles, an official said.
The police have detained the car’s owner, identified as Md Salman, in Haryana’s Gurugram. Salman had sold his car to a person in Okhla, the official said, adding that the car was registered in his name and had a Haryana registration number plate.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has condolded the loss of lives in a blast near the Red Fort in Delhi and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
“Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in a blast in Delhi. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the swift recovery of the injured,” Sawant said in a post on X late Monday night.

The Red Fort Metro Station has been closed for commuters a day after a blast in the area killed at least nine people, while traffic restrictions have also been imposed in the area, officials said on Tuesday.
In a post on X, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said, “Service Update. Lal Qila Metro Station is closed due to security reasons. All other stations are functional as normal.” The Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory regarding restrictions and diversions have been put in place in both the carriageways and service roads — Netaji Subhash Marg from Chatta Rail Cut to Subhash Marg Cut.
The traffic police advised commuters to avoid these routes from 6 am till further order and use alternative roads for a hassle-free journey. “No vehicles shall be allowed on Netaji Subhash Marg from Chatta Rail Cut to Subhash Marg Cut and vice versa,” read the advisory.

The bodies of six out of the total nine blast victims have been identified so far at the Lok Nayak Hospital.
Meanwhile, several family members of the injured have alleged mismanagement and lack of information on the part of the authorities while waiting for updates about their wounded kin.

Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda on Tuesday termed as “disturbing” the blast near Red Fort in Delhi that claimed nine lives, and said the union government has initiated security measures and is determined to serve justice.
The JD(S) patriarch has also called on the country men to stay strong and united.
“The blast in Delhi near Red Fort is very disturbing. The union govt has swiftly put in motion a number of security measures, and is determined to investigate and serve justice,” Gowda said in a post on ‘X’.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the blast near Red Fort in Delhi, and extended his condolences to the families of those killed and wished for a speedy recovery of the injured persons.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday (November 11) condoled the loss of lives in the explosion in New Delhi a day ago and hoped for the swift recovery of the those injured.
Mr. Dhami has also instructed the Uttarakhand Director General of Police to “remain on high alert, exercise complete vigilance, and maintain special surveillance on the state’s borders.”

The U.S. State Department Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs expressed condolences over the high-intensity blast near Delhi’s historic Red Fort that took place on Monday (November 10) evening, leaving at least nine people dead and many others injured.
Delhi Police has received a batch of 75 surveillance drones from Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW).
Under this event, 75 drones comprised of one large, 15 medium, and 59 small drones. This indicates a successful collaboration between a premier technical education institution and the police force. The drones were reportedly developed/assembled by girl students of IGDTUW, with the technical support from a reputed vendor.
According to Delhi Police, the aim is to deploy these drones across all 15 districts of Delhi and along with specialised units like the Crime Branch, Traffic, Railways and Metro, for enhanced precise surveillance and reconnaissance, Crime scene documentation, Disaster response, Crowd control and monitoring traffic, especially during festivals and in crowded markets.

A red alert has been sounded in Punjab on Monday evening following a blast near the Red Fort in Delhi that claimed nine lives and left several injured.
“In the wake of the blast in New Delhi, a red alert has been sounded across all districts in the state of Punjab,” said a Punjab police department spokesperson.
Commissioners of police and Senior Superintendents of Police have been asked to remain alert, said the spokesperson. The police force has been deployed at sensitive and vulnerable spots.
Checking of vehicles and suspicious people has been intensified, added the spokesperson.

A high alert has been issued in Maharashtra following a blast in a car near the Red Fort metro station in New Delhi on Monday evening, and security has been stepped up at vital installations in Mumbai and major railway stations, police said.
A senior police officer said a “precautionary alert” has been issued for Mumbai. The explosion in a slow-moving vehicle near the Red Fort crossing left at least nine dead and around 20 injured, while gutting several vehicles.
“All the unit commanders at the district level in Maharashtra and commissioners of cities have been instructed to remain alert to avoid any untoward incidents”, a police official said.

In the wake of a car explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi on Monday evening, Bengaluru Police have issued a citywide alert and directed all deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) to intensify security measures across the city.
In a memorandum, the Commissioner of Police instructed that Nakabandis (checkposts) be set up across all police station limits and thorough checks of suspicious persons and vehicles be conducted.
“Inspections at hotels, lodges, PG accommodations, and other places of stay within police limits must be conducted; surveillance should be kept and identities of suspicious persons verified,” the memorandum said.
It directed that vigilance be maintained near residences and offices of dignitaries and at embassies and that police remain alert for suspiciously parked cars, vehicles or objects.

A high-intensity explosion ripped through a moving car near the Red Fort in the national capital in the evening, gutting several vehicles and killing at least nine people, officials said.
“High alert across Haryana state in view of #Delhi incident. People are requested to remain calm. If any suspicious person or unclaimed object is seen, inform ‘112’ (emergency helpline),” Haryana Director General of Police O.P. Singh said in a post in Hindi on X.

Iran in India expresses its deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the Delhi blast.
“The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India expresses its deep sorrow over the loss of lives and injuries of several Indian citizens in the car blast incident in Delhi, and extends its sincere condolences to the Government and the people of the Republic of India. Security will be tightened across Karnataka in the wake of the blast in Delhi. Speaking to reporters in Mysuru on Monday (November 10, 2025) evening, Mr. Siddaramaiah said he will speak to State’s Director General of Police to beef up security across the State.
Directions had been issued to take all necessary security measures at railway stations, bus stands, airports, and other densely populated areas, he said.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan strongly condemned the “heinous bomb blast” near Delhi’s Red Fort.

Security has been stepped up in Gautam Buddh Nagar following a blast in a car near the Red Fort in Delhi on Monday (November 10, 2025) evening, police officials said.
Police teams are conducting checking drives at metro stations and crowded places at key locations to inspect suspicious vehicles, they said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Yamuna Prasad, along with police personnel, carried out foot patrols in Sector 62 and other crowded areas under the jurisdiction of the Sector 58 police station to review security arrangements.

The Chandni Chowk market will be closed on Tuesday (November 11, 2025) following a powerful blast near the Red Fort that killed at least eight people, the market association said.
“The shops in Chandni Chowk will be closed on Tuesday, as there is fear among traders after the blast,” said Sanjay Bhargaw, president of the Chandni Chowk Traders Association.
Mr. Bhargaw, whose shop is a few hundred metres from the blast site, said the explosion was so strong that their entire building shook. “There was chaos in the market as people started running,” he said.

The Uttar Pradesh government directed the state DGP to put the entire police force in U.P. on high alert and ensure intensive checking across the state.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed shock and grief over the blast that occurred near Red Fort in Delhi.

In the wake of the explosion in a vehicle near the Red Fort Metro station, all installations secured by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), including the Delhi Metro, Red Fort, government buildings, and IGI Airport, have been placed on high alert.

A high alert has been issued in Maharashtra following a blast in a car parked near the Red Fort metro station in New Delhi on Monday (November 10, 2025) evening, and security has been beefed up at vital installations, police said.
A senior police officer said a “precautionary alert” has been issued for Mumbai.
“All the unit commanders at the district level in Maharashtra and commissioners of cities have been instructed to remain alert to avoid any untoward incidents,” a police official said.
Police are maintaining a strong vigil and stepping up security at important places and vital installations in the state and Mumbai, the official said.

Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha said that a slow-moving vehicle stopped at a red light outside Red Fort at 6:52 p.m.
“An explosion happened in that vehicle, and due to the explosion, nearby vehicles were also damaged. All agencies, FSL, NIA, are here… Some people have died, and some have been injured in the incident. We will update you with the exact figures shortly,” said Mr. Golcha.
