Delhi News Blast Live Updates: A powerful blast rocked the national capital on Monday evening after a high-intensity explosion ripped through a moving Hyundai i20 car. In the high-intensity blast that occurred near the busy area of iconic Red Fort metro station, loss of life and property was significant.
Several vehicles were gutted and at least nine deaths have been reported so far. Meanwhile, at least 18 injures have been reported, and all the injured have been rushed to hospitals.
It has not been confirmed whether the explosion was a bomb blast in Delhi, but a forensic investigation is underway to ascertain the nature of the blast.
At least one person has been detained for questioning regarding ownership of the car, while cops are separately questioning individuals arrested in connection with a terror module allegedly linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH). The module was busted on Monday and 2,900 kg of explosives were recovered, hours before the blast rocked Delhi.
Delhi Police registered a case in connection with the blast near the historic Red Fort in the city under various Sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosives Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took stock of the situation and is in touch with Home Minister Amit Shah, according to government sources. PM Modi also expressed condolences over the loss of lives.
Home Minister Amit Shah, meanwhile, visited the hospital to meet the injured. He also spoke with security and intelligence officials and is updating PM Modi on investigations.
Police have sounded a high alert in Delhi as the investigation continues. Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra has also been put on high alert over the incident.
At least 20 fire tenders were rushed to the spot, with police cordoning off the area, the Delhi Fire Services said.
The blast was so powerful that it shattered windows of vehicles parked several metres away and was heard in nearby buildings of the congested area.
“The blast occurred in a car parked near Red Fort metro station gate number 1. The intensity was quite high. Injuries are feared,” said a senior official of Delhi Fire Service.
Visuals of the incident showed plumes of fire billowing from the burning cars.
Chandni Chowk market will be closed on Tuesday due to the Delhi blast on Monday evening, the traders association said.
The iconic heritage site Red Fort will remain closed for 3 days. As per Delhi Police notice dated 11 November, the monument will remain closed till 13 November.
DCP North Raja Banthia said, “Post-mortems are also being conducted at LNJP. Five post-mortems have already been done…Yes, we have one or two unidentified bodies. We have already identified 6 bodies,” ANI reported.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed condolences over the tragic car blast. Taking to social media platform X, he wrote, “Deeply saddened by the tragic car blast in Delhi. Heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. Pray for speedy recovery of the injured.”
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta in a post on X stated, “Visited LNJP Hospital and met with the citizens injured in the accident, inquired about their condition, and wished for their speedy recovery.”
She added, “Instructed the officials that there should be no shortcomings whatsoever in the treatment of the injured and that all necessary medical facilities be provided immediately and with complete promptness.”
The railway police urged passengers to travellers to be vigilant and careful on their journey and avoid going near unidentified objects. “We are on high alert,” PTI quoted a senior RPF official as saying.
Security has been beefed up at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Thane, Kalyan, Panvel, Churchgate, Mumbai Central, Bandra Terminus, Borivali, Vasai and other major stations. Rigorous checking is being done on platforms by the RPF and GRP personnels. Security has been increased at Dahisar, Thane, Vashi and Airoli entry points of the city.
Relatives of Delhi blast victims were seen outside the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) mortuary on Tuesday morning.
According to agency reports, Delhi Police searched hotels in Paharganj, Daryaganj and surrounding areas through the night and checked hotel registers. Four suspects were detained in the search operation for further questioning, as per Delhi Police sources.
DCP North Raja Banthia said, “A case has been registered at Kotwali police station, and UAPA, Explosives Act, and relevant sections of the BNS have been invoked. FSL teams, forensic experts, and other specialised units are investigating the crime scene. We are collecting all evidence. We cannot say anything conclusively yet. Information will be made public once we have established facts.”
Delhi Police obtained CCTV clip of the suspect’s movement moments before the blast, according to Delhi Police sources. The suspect was seen entering the car and exiting the parking area. The suspect was alone at the time, the footage indicates. Investigation is ongoing to trace the route towards Daryaganj. The probe agency is examining more than 100 CCTV clips. Footage from nearby toll plazas has also been retrieved for examination to establish the complete movement of the vehicle.
Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) in a post on X stated, “Our hearts are with those affected by the terrible explosion in New Delhi. We continue to closely monitor the situation. Our sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
According to Delhi Traffic Police’s latest travel advisory, traffic movement along Netaji Subhash Marg from Chatta Rail Cut to Subhash Marg Cut will be restricted. The traffic restrictions came into effect at 6:00 AM today and will remain intact until further notice.
“On 11.11.25, Due to exigencies, traffic restrictions & diversions will be in place in both the carriageways and service roads Netaji Subhash Marg from Chatta Rail Cut to Subhash Marg Cut, the advisory states.
Urging commuters to take alternative routes, traffic police said, “No vehicles shall be allowed on Netaji Subhash Marg from Chatta Rail Cut to Subhash Marg Cut on that day and vice versa.”
Ambassador of Israel to India, Reuven Azar, in a post on X stated, “Heartbreaking scenes in Delhi following the car blast resulting in so many dead and injured. Our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. Wishing speedy recovery to those who survived. Praise for the rescuers & security forces.”
The US Embassy issued asecurity alert and travel advisor for its citizens in India. On its official website, the US Embassy said, “Avoid the areas surrounding the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk in Delhi and crowds; monitor local media for updates; be aware of surroundings; stay alert in locations frequented by tourists.”
Delhi Police provided an update about the prime suspect to ANI and said that CCTV shows Delhi blast suspect was alone in car. Over 100 clips are being scanned, the police said on Tuesday.

Amid the ongoing investigation into the blast, the Forensic Science Laboratory told ANI that samples will be taken to the laboratory and that a clue regarding the nature of the blast will be known after the examination.

Press Information Bureau posted, “Some social media accounts are claiming that Special CP (Law & Order) Ravindra Yadav has confirmed that the recent blast in #Delhi was caused by a CNG explosion. This claim is fake. No official from the Delhi Police has made any such statement.”

The US Embassy has issued an advisory to its citizens in India, warning them to be alert after the Delhi blast near Red Fort today. Here is what it has said:

Authorities were put on high alert and heavy checking prevailed at the Vaishno Devi Shrine in Jammu and Kashmir following the Delhi blast that killed at least 8 on Monday.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the LNJP Hospital on late Monday to interact with the victims of the Red Fort blast in New Delhi. Visuals from the hospital shows her interacting with the patients.

“The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India expresses its deep sorrow over the loss of lives and injuries of several Indian citizens in the car blast incident in Delhi, and extends its sincere condolences to the Government and the people of the Republic of India. The Embassy also conveys its heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families of the victims and wishes patience and comfort for them, as well as a speedy recovery for those injured in this tragic incident,” says Iran Embassy.
“Horrifying reports from Delhi. My thoughts are with the families of those killed, the emergency responders & the Indian people, as they confront this dark moment.The UK Government must support British nationals in Delhi & respond to requests for assistance,” Patel said in an X post.

Following the Delhi bomb blast, Ahmedabad in Gujarat has been placed on high alert. Police have intensified checking across the city, especially at railway stations where incoming vehicles are being thoroughly inspected. DCP Rupal Solanki stated that security measures have been strengthened to ensure public safety, PTI reports.
“Strongly condemn the heinous blast near Delhi’s #RedFort. This cowardly act is an attack on our nation and its people. Heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Kerala stands in steadfast solidarity with the people of Delhi in this hour of grief. Urge the authorities to ensure that those behind this heinous act are brought to justice without delay. Such forces that threaten our nation’s peace must be defeated,” Vijayan said in an X post.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann posts, “I have received the tragic news of the bomb blast that occurred near the Red Fort in Delhi, in which several people have reportedly died a painful death and many others are said to be seriously injured. A high-level investigation should be conducted into this incident that took place in the country’s capital, and the culprits should be given the strictest possible punishment. We pray to the Almighty for the peace of the souls of the pedestrians who lost their lives in this accident and wish for the swift recovery of the injured.”
Sandeep Kumar, spokesperson for Gurugram Police, said that the car used in the blast was originally registered to a Gurugram resident identified as Salman. “He had sold the vehicle to a man named Devender, a resident of Okhla, around one and a half years ago. We have handed over Salman to the Delhi Police. Devender has been arrested by Delhi Police, and both are being questioned to trace the subsequent sale and establish the complete chain of ownership,” Kumar said, as per HT.
The spokesperson said that the car was later sold to someone in Ambala but they don’t have further details.
