MACEDON, N.Y. — Wayne County deputies and fire departments are searching a pond in Macedon for a driver after her car went into the water on Wednesday morning.
The search is centered around Hance Road and Route 31F. The sheriff’s office says the driver called 911 for help around 4 a.m. after her car went into the water, but that call cut off.
Deputies say they’re trying to find the car and the woman using the GPS signal in her phone. First responders have been gathering at the edge of the pond and divers have been coming in and out of the water. News10NBC’s crew sees an ambulance, a fire truck, and multiple sheriff’s deputies’ cars at the scene. News10NBC also saw a drone just after 6:30 a.m.
The first dispatch call said the driver is “still inside the vehicle, which is submerged in the water,” requesting police, fire, and ambulance crews at the scene. First responders said they “see pieces of the vehicle” but were unable to find the vehicle itself.
There’s no word on what caused the crash. This is a developing story. Watch News10NBC TODAY at the top of every half hour through 7 a.m. for the latest.
