SAN ANTONIO — Betty Wise drove away with a new car today after winning a raffle in the "Drive Away for Education" campaign.
Wise, who donated around $100 to the initiative, was one of many contributors helping to provide school supplies for students across San Antonio.
Wise said her family was initially skeptical about her chances of winning. "One of our sons he said 'you're crazy. save your money.' I said 'it's a good cause.' and my daughter-in-law said it only takes one ticket. but of course we didn't expect this," she said.
The campaign successfully raised more than $451,000, benefiting approximately 50,000 students as they head back to school.
