Motorists have been urged to plan ahead with the motorway expected to be closed into this evening
THE M20 is closed after a driver died in a three-vehicle horror crash that left another seriously injured.
The motorway is shut westbound between Junction 9 and Junction 8 in Kent after emergency services raced to the scene of the crash this morning.

Kent Police said the horror crash happened as a white Mercedes lorry, a black Nissan Qashqai and a white Scania articulated lorry were travelling on the London-bound carriageway of the motorway.
The driver of the Nissan, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin have been informed.
While the driver of the Mercedes was taken by air ambulance to a London hospital for treatment to serious injuries.
Police are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

The M20 is closed westbound between Junction 9 at Ashford and Junction 8 at Maidstone and is expected to remain closed into this evening.
“National Highways area team crews have arrived to take over the full closure at Ashford and to provide welfare facilities to the police and national highways crews who remain at scene,” said National Highways.
“Although no estimated time of re-opening can be provided at this time, it is fully expected that the road will remain closed into and past this evening’s peak traffic period.”
They added: “If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.”

Traffic on the eastbound carriageway was brought to a stop this morning to allow an Air Ambulance to safely land at the scene.
Commuters were facing tailbacks of up to 10 miles and have to contend with further disruption tonight.
National Highways said: “The Air Ambulance left scene at 09:55 but eastbound traffic wasn’t released until 10:20 as emergency services continued to work at the scene of the collision.
“Kent Police remain at the scene to carry out collision investigations.” 
A spokesperson for Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) said: “A helicopter was dispatched to the M20 near Maidstone on November 25.
“Our crew arrived on scene at 0915 where they worked with South East Coast Ambulance Service, Kent Police, and Kent Fire and Rescue Service to help treat the patients, involved in a road traffic collision.
“They then transported a patient to a major trauma centre by air.”
A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “SECAmb were called at approximately 08:35 today to reports of a collision involving two lorries and a car on the M25 between junctions 9 and 8.
“Multiple crews, critical care paramedics and The Air Ambulance Charity, Kent Surrey Sussex attended the scene.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for comment.
National Highways has advised road users to follow the hollow square diversion symbol, which has a height limit of 4.7m:
They also advised traffic leaving the Port of Dover to use the A2/M2 for London.
