A driver was killed after a tree crashed onto two cars Friday in the Winnetka neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley.
Los Angeles fire officials received a call about the incident on Mason Avenue between Saticoy Street and Sherman Way at around 3:33 p.m.

The driver, whose identity was not immediately released, was pinned inside a white SUV and declared dead at the scene.
A man in the second vehicle says he was driving southbound on Mason Avenue to pick up his daughter when the massive tree came down.
“I didn’t even realize the tree fell on my car. Then everything was smashed to pieces and the car came to a standstill,” said the second driver, exclusively to NBC4.
The man was able to get out of the vehicle with no serious injuries.

Police officers say they were driving on Mason Avenue when they received the emergency call and were able to respond in minutes.
Transportation and Street Service officials and the LAFD also responded to the scene.
