MIDWOOD, Brooklyn (WABC) — A driver is dead after careening a supposedly stolen car into a building in Midwood, Brooklyn early Monday morning, police say.
The Honda Civic jumped the curb and smashed into a building on Flatbush Avenue at around 1:45 a.m., splitting it in half.
The driver was found lying in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital
Officials believe he jumped into a vehicle left running and unattended at Regent Place and Flatbush Avenue, then sped off and crashed further south on Flatbush Avenue.
Video obtained by Eyewitness News shows the car mangled and split in half, one half upside down on the road.
