NEW HAVEN — An East Haven man is accused of striking two people with a car he was driving Thursday while he was trying to hit a woman he knows when she refused to leave with him, police said.
New Haven police said Anthony Salan-Ortiz, 24, and friends went to Fort Hale Park on Woodward Avenue in two separate cars following a holiday party. Following an argument, a woman Salan-Ortiz knows refused to leave with him.

Salan-Ortiz attempted to hit her with his car, but missed and ended up hitting two other people who were with them, police said. They suffered minor injuries, police said.
Police said they responded to the park at 8:05 p.m. and officers arrested Salan-Ortiz as he attempted to leave in his car.
Salan-Ortiz is charged with two counts of second-degree assault, attempted second-degree assault, three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, three counts of second-degree breach of peace, misuse of a license plate and driving without insurance. He was held on $75,000 bond.
