A fatal crash is under investigation by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred Feb. 1 after a suspect eluded law enforcement, according to a news release posted on the LCSO website.
A sheriff’s deputy in Loveland noticed a vehicle was missing its lights and license plate just after 4:15 a.m., according to the release. The deputy turned around to stop the car, but the driver turned off all the vehicle’s lights and sped away.
“The deputy activated his lights and sirens, but the suspect refused to stop and continued to elude law enforcement for several miles,” according to the release. “Deputies pursued as the driver traveled at high speeds up to 120 mph on northbound I-25. The vehicle exited at Mountain Vista, and after several turns, began driving east on Vine Drive/Weld County Road 84.
“The driver lost control of the vehicle near the intersection of Pheasant Crest Drive and WCR 84,” according to the release. “The car struck a power pole and rolled, ejecting two male occupants. One of the men was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other man was transported to an area hospital where he died. A third person was inside the vehicle; she was extricated and transported to an area hospital for care. No other injuries have been reported.”
