European electric vehicle advocates are calling on the European Commission to uphold its commitment to zero emissions for new cars by 2035, warning that any weakening of the policy would undermine investments and widen the gap with China.
This message is conveyed in an open letter from E-Mobility Europe and ChargeUp Europe, signed by nearly 200 stakeholders, including Polestar and Volvo Cars. The letter is addressed to Commission President Ursula von der Leyen ahead of a December 16 package that could introduce greater flexibility in CO2 requirements.
