Translated literally as “little beach car”, we’ve been treated to a plethora of “Spiagginas” over the years. Standouts include an open-top Ferrari 365 GTC/4 Beach Car custom-built by Michelotti for the Swiss automotive entrepreneur Willy Felber, as well as Gianni Agnelli’s iconic Fiat 500 Carrozzeria Boano, but now there’s a new beach car on the block. Created by our friends at BorromeodeSilva, their latest creation, the 912 Barca, celebrates the joy of la dolce vita. 

Born from the vision of a private collector and shaped by BorromeodeSilva, it lives between the two connected worlds of sailing and driving. Every piece of the 912 has been reimagined through with nautical intent at its core, with mahogany details aplenty. Adorning the bumpers, wrapping around the bodylines of where the doors were once kept, this gloss-finished natural material makes the car come alive and truly blend into the environment it was intended for. Not content with the plethora of varnished wood, the team set about adding a sailcloth roof, on the off chance you encounter a rare summer downpour. Speaking of water, the team even managed to shoe-horn a retractable shower head hidden in the car’s original fuel cap. It’s these unique details that have had the Classic Driver office smirking with a mixture of being impressed but also desperate to own one for ourselves!

Spawning the dawn of what we predict to be a new breed of beautiful beach cars, the 912 Barca is every bit as fun and playful as it truly a beautiful piece of artistry and craftsmanship. Blending two differing worlds into what is perhaps the ultimate way to cruise along a sun-drenched coastline, there truly is no end to what this Milan-based design studio are capable of! The best part? While this example is a one-off, the team want the dream of owning one to become a reality for a fortunate few, with a limited production run planned to be available on both 911 and 912 platforms.
