Exide Technologies latest AGM battery caters over three million cars in EU
Gennevilliers, France (24/11/2025) www.exidegroup.com – Exide Technologies, a leading provider of innovative and sustainable battery solutions for automotive and industrial applications, has introduced a new AGM battery size into its Light Vehicle battery range.
Designed to meet the advanced power and cycling requirements of modern xEVs, the EK500 offers a new L01 AGM format (50Ah, 570A) that delivers best-in-class performance, highest cycling (as rated by the European technical standards) and comprehensive market coverage.
Manufactured in Europe, using the same design, production lines and technology as its original equipment (OE) batteries, Exide’s EK500 offers distributors and technicians alike a trusted aftermarket solution with OEM pedigree.
Responding to growing demands from European and Asian car makers, adopting L01 for both SLI and auxiliary applications, the Exide EK500 is suitable for approximately 3.4 million vehicles across Europe. These include the latest BMW X3 and X5, Kia Picanto and Stonic, VW ID.4, Hyundai i10 and Kona models and many others.
Latest AGM battery design for demanding xEV environments
Exide’s new-generation AGM technology features best-in-class grid technology, high-surface glass mat separators, advanced alloys and unique carbon additives in the active mass. 
As a result, the Exide EK500 provides longevity and consistent performance, lower internal resistance and minimal voltage drop under high demand – reliable support for safety-critical loads – namely ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) features. This makes it the ideal 12V power source for the most demanding applications in xEVs.
