TOWN OF AUBURNDALE, WI (OnFocus) – A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of County Highway H and County Highway M in the Town of Auburndale, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department
Deputies were dispatched to the scene at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Dec. 31 after receiving a report of a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a plow truck. Upon arrival, deputies determined that the passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound on County Highway H while the plow truck was traveling northbound on County Highway M.
Investigators reported that the plow truck failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the eastbound vehicle. One occupant of the passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second occupant was transported to Marshfield Medical Center for treatment.
The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Heather R. Nigh. Two additional individuals were involved in the crash, including 26-year-old Jared D. Peters and 69-year-old Dennis R. Ross.
Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the scene and is leading the investigation, which remains ongoing.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including Marshfield EMS, Auburndale Fire and first responders, the Wood County Coroner’s Office, and Nieman’s Towing.
Authorities have not released further details at this time.
