In Maranello they are opting for continuity and have revealed the name of the car they will compete with in 2026. They haven't won since the SF-24 with Sainz.
Ferrari is sticking with tradition when it comes to naming its Formula 1 cars. After running the SF‑24 in 2024 and the SF‑25 last season, the team from Maranello has officially chosen SF‑26 as the name of its challenger for this year.
And this isn’t just another model number. Ferrari is pinning its hopes on the SF‑26 to take the team back to the top step of the podium — something it hasn’t achieved on a Sunday since Carlos Sainz won the 2024 Mexican Grand Prix in the SF‑24. That car was competitive enough to keep Ferrari in the fight for the Constructors’ Championship. The SF‑25, however, was a different story: underwhelming, and according to the team, its aerodynamic development was essentially halted as early as April.
Ferrari did introduce a new rear suspension in July, but the real focus clearly shifted toward the upcoming rule changes — and toward the SF‑26.

Just one day before Ferrari revealed the name of its new car, Lewis Hamilton resurfaced on social media to share a message on his 41st birthday — and fans immediately noticed what sounded like a nod to his new team.
“Another return. I’m incredibly grateful for this break,” Hamilton wrote. “Time to disconnect, recharge and find a bit of inner peace. Time with family and friends replenishing with rest and good laughs has been everything I needed after a very draining year. In a world that moves so fast where we’re constantly being pulled in so many directions, truly disconnecting and has been the most amazing feeling.”
Then came the line that many interpreted as a wink toward Ferrari: “I’m conscious that we’re entering the Year of the Horse and leaving behind the Year of the Snake. The time for change is now. Starting new routines, leaving behind unwanted patterns and working on growth.”
Hamilton closed with a more reflective note:“Let go of things that don’t serve you. This can take time, there will be things you can’t get rid of immediately, but it starts with the first step. Even though the world can seem like a mess, I hope that you’re staying focused on living life to the fullest. Be you and never forget who you are. I learnt that from many of you who told me this in 2025, and I’ll never forget again! Your support means the world to me, and I’m here for you too. You are never alone. Let’s take it one day at a time, one step at a time..”
For Hamilton, the chaotic 2025 season is now in the rearview mirror. His focus is fully on 2026 — and with the SF‑26 officially named, the next chapter has already begun.
