The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued multiple recalls last week, including notices for over 1 million Ford Motor vehicles.

The NHTSA website also allows you to search for recalls by your vehicle identification number, or VIN. Here’s what you need to know about the vehicle recalls published by NHTSA from Sept. 8 to Sept. 14:
Ford recalled a swath of vehicles as they may have a rearview camera that shows a distorted or blank image.
A sub-supplier for the Magna rear-view cameras installed in the vehicles made an unauthorized change to their printed circuit board, which resulted in lower terminal contact forces, according to the recall report. Lower contact forces can cause corrosion on parts of the board over time.

A remedy for the recall is under development. Ford will send initial notices Sept. 22 and follow up when a remedy is available.
Dealers are to inspect and replace the rearview camera as necessary, free of charge.

Mazda recalled certain 2024 to 2025 CX-90 and 2025 CX-70 mild hybrid electric vehicles as they could have a fuel gauge that gives an inaccurate reading.
When fuel containing ethanol is used in the affected vehicles, it may react with materials on the circuit board in the vehicle’s sub-tank, according to the recall report. The reaction can create a buildup that interferes with the gauge’s function, resulting in inaccurate readings.
Dealers are to update the body control module software for free. Notification letters are to be sent on Nov. 1.

Toyota recalled certain 2023 to 2025 Toyota bZ4X, Lexus RZ, and Subaru Solterra vehicles due to the defroster and defogger system.
The defroster and defogger system shuts off during certain HVAC system faults, such as electrical compressor failure, due to the programming of the HVAC and ECU software, according to the recall report.
Dealers are to update the HVAC control ECU software, as well as inspect the electrical compressor, and replace it, if necessary, free of charge.
Owner notification letters are to be mailed Oct. 20.

Honda recalled certain 2025 Acura RDX vehicles as the software for the electric power steering assist may not be calibrated properly.
If the software is not correctly calibrated, the system can enter a failsafe mode, resulting in a loss of power steering assist, according to the NHTSA.
Dealers are to reprogram the software, free of charge. Notification letters are to be mailed on Oct. 20.
