Ford has announced the brand’s 2026 plans for the Ford Racing division and there’s an interesting tidbit in there.
After discussing efforts in NASCAR, Formula 1, off-roading, and endurance racing, the manufacturer included the following blurb:
“But the excitement doesn’t stop with our track and trail warriors. For the first time ever, fans worldwide will also get an exclusive sneak peek at an all-new Ford Racing production road car – a testament to how deeply we’re integrating our racing innovation into the vehicles you drive every day. The racetrack is our ultimate proving ground, fast-tracking developments that will soon be under the hood and in the chassis of your next Ford.”
What this could mean exactly is open to interpretation and could relate to a wide variety of future products. At the high-end, it could be a new generation of the Ford GT supercar, but that’s probably unlikely. More realistic, this could be another variant of the Ford Mustang, maybe a more hardcore version of the GTD with possibly electrification? Ford did also include trail warriors in the write-up, so maybe there’s a future Raptor on the way? Imagine a 1,000 hp Mustang Mach-E Raptor? Sign us up!
But for this humble author, my ultimate dream, one which would never make reality, is stuffing the upcoming Formula 1 engine in something ridiculous, like a van. Hey, Ford has done it before.
