Ford recalled certain 2020-2022 Escape and 2025 Escape vehicles because the liftgate hinge covers may not be properly secured and detach.

The report points to a supplier quality issue and potential contact between the vehicle’s liftgate and hinge covers during liftgate opening for detachment on the 2025 vehicles.
Dealers are to inspect and reinstall or replace any missing liftgate hinge covers as necessary, at no cost. Letters notifying owners of the safety risk are to be mailed Jan. 15, with a follow-up letter sent when a remedy is available.
