The Simpsons isn't just taking over Fortnite, as there are also Rocket League goodies for fans.
We already knew all about The Simpsons and Fortnite, but that’s not the only place to get your proper dose of Springfield as the iconic TV show is also invading Rocket League. And, of course, that means there will be an in-show car skin for you to use that will also be usable in Fortnite, should you want to drop some in-game currency. Whether you’ll want to use it, though, is a different story, as there’s only one car Simpsons fans really want to get their hands on and it’s not this one.
While all of us would likely love to battle our friends while driving The Homer — the ill-conceived car Homer designed himself in the 1991 episode “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?” — that’s not what we’re getting. We aren’t even getting the Canyonero, the extremely beefy SUV the show introduced in season 10. Instead, we are getting the family’s standard beat-up sedan, which they’ve been driving since 1989. While there may be a bunch of miles on this particular car, it is an iconic piece of the show. And for those who track the dimensions of Rocket League vehicles, the Simpson family car shared a hitbox with the Dominus.
And it’s not the only cosmetic from the show coming to Rocket League. The event will also include a series of challenges to unlock more goodies, and they’re all Simpsons-themed. Per a press release, the challenges will require you to “get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ house, and drive a distance worthy of picking up the perfect donuts!”
While we don’t know the full lineup of challenge rewards, here is what’s been announced so far:
If the key art is any indication, it looks like we’ll also get wheels with a TV featuring The Simpsons‘ opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts themed to burning tires and Krusty Burger.
This event coincides with the extensive The Simpsons takeover of Fortnite, which comes complete with a brand-new map of Springfield, as well as a month-long Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event launches Saturday, Nov. 1 and ends Nov. 17.
