MOTORISTS can enjoy free parking in Dorchester today, Saturday November 22.
It is among selected dates chosen for free car parking in the county town in the run-up to Christmas.
This is in a bid to boost trade for local businesses and to support special events such as Small Business Saturday.
It is also hoped the free parking offer will encourage more shoppers to use the high street instead of going online to buy their presents.
The town’s tourism website Discover Dorchester says: “Across the town centre, Brewery Square and Poundbury in Dorchester we have a wonderful mix of independent and chain shops to make everyone’s Christmas wish come true.
“Shop local, support local businesses.”
The offer applies to Dorset Council’s town centre car parks and does not include on-street parking or privately operated car parks such as the Co-Op.
