NEW LONDON — A garage was damaged and two vehicles were destroyed Saturday evening at a Summer Street residence, the New London Fire Department said.
Firefighters were dispatched at 5:10 p.m. and upon arrival found the fire spreading quickly through the detached three-bay garage, which contained two vehicles at the time of the indent, according to the department. Crews were able to isolate and significantly contain the fire within 10 minutes, preventing the blaze from spreading to nearby structures, the department said.

The garage sustained significant damage and both cars were destroyed as a result of the fire, but there were no injuries to residents or firefighters, the department said. The fire was considered a single-alarm response, with all active New London fire companies responding. The Lyme, Groton City and Waterford fire departments provided coverage.
The New London Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
