The extent of the savings drivers can make on the new set of wheels has been revealed
GEELY is hoping to make its mark on the UK car market with its newly launched EX5 – a stylish, all-electric SUV.
Last week, it was already revealed that Volvo’s budget sibling is looking to release 10 new motors by 2030, with the bargain brand hoping to undercut its rivals by offering significant discounts and aggressive pricing.

And as the EX5 graces British roads for the very first time, the extent of the savings drivers can make on the new set of wheels has been revealed – including up to £4,750 off its top model.
As part of a general push by Chinese car makers to establish themselves in the UK EV market, many brands such as Leapmotor, MG and Changan are offering pretty alluring incentives.
It means motorists could save some serious cash, with the Geely EX5 starting at a reasonable £31,990 before discounts, with the range-topping Max version including a £1,000 trade-in bonus for petrol/diesel motors and a ‘Geely EV Grant’ of £3,750.
The EX5, which will hope to compete with large electric SUVs such as the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5, has a good level of features on its side, including keyless entry, surround cameras and clever storage.

ROAR TO LIFE
Top-selling Brit car brand bringing BACK cheap & cheerful SUV after 20 years
Mid-range Pro trim adds larger wheels and fancy interior lighting, while the Max gets luxury bits such as a panoramic sunroof and massaging seats.
It’s no slouch when it comes to pace either, with the SUV’s front-mounted electric motor allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 6.9 seconds.
Its range is quoted at 267 miles – reasonable, but not exactly class-leading – but it does support quick 160kW charging, which can see it top up from 30 to 80% within 20 minutes.
It’s great for family drivers, with rear seats that can fold completely flat to create makeshift beds and, even without doing that, there’s plenty of space inside – including a large underfloor storage area.

For peace of mind, the car comes with an 8-year or 125,000-mile warranty, roadside assistance and incentives for home charging setups, including a wallbox discount or public charging credit with Octopus.
Geely has started its British invasion with 25 UK dealers from major groups, moving up to 50 by year-end and 100 by the end of 2026, reflecting the wider boom of Chinese manufacturers as 755 dealerships now sell Chinese car brands in the UK.
Geely’s next plan is a whole host of electrified models between now and 2030, including crossovers, hatchbacks and various other segments.
Four models will be launched by the end of next year including two plug-in hybrids, while some others will be rebadged from Chinese market models.
They will also tailor some of their models for UK roads, with Geely having worked with their friends at Lotus Engineering to revise suspension and handling.
This comes as fellow Chinese brand Chery revealed a new compact SUV for Europe with the upcoming Omoda 4, following on from the success of the Omoda 5.
Based on the Omoda 3, the upcoming model bears a striking resemblance to the Lamborghini Urus – the hugely premium SUV loved by celebrities and footballers.
The Omoda 4 will be available with both petrol engines and as an EV, sharing the same T1X platform as the Omoda 5 – meaning it can be expected to feature similar engine choices and EV variants.
For petrol, potential buyers can expect a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, while its electric motor will likely use a 61kWh battery powering the front wheels, similar to the Omoda 5.

The stylish small-to-medium SUV will also likely be cheaper than the Omoda 5 – which already starts at a highly reasonable £25,915 – although Chery, the group which owns Omoda, claim they’re not aiming to make it a “cheap” car and instead want to describe it as “affordable premium”.
Indeed, the brand’s UK country manager, Victor Zhang, said: “The Omoda 4 will not be so cheap, because I don’t think we just want to do the lowest-price product. This is not our philosophy.”
