Used car buyers on GM’s CarBravo platform might get a full year of coverage, or just 30 days, depending on what they drive and where they live
Buying a used car can be a gamble, as you never really know what you’re getting into. GM, however, is offering some added peace of mind by doubling the bumper-to-bumper limited warranty on cars purchased through its used vehicle retail platform, CarBravo.
Under the new initiative, the warranty has been extended to 12 months or 12,000 miles (19,312 km), whichever comes first. GM said this “sets a new standard in the used car market” and there’s no deductible for repairs. The automaker added customers will also receive 24-hour roadside assistance and courtesy transportation.

While it’s hard to argue with that, there are a few caveats. One of the biggest is that certain vehicles aren’t eligible for the generous warranty. This includes models that are 10-15 years old and have between 100,000-149,999 miles (160,934-241,400 km) on them. These buyers will have to settle for a 30 day/1,000 mile (1609 km) limited powertrain warranty.
Furthermore, the company said “coverage and terms are different in the State of California,” although they didn’t elaborate. The automaker also noted covered components vary between GM and non-GM vehicles.
That’s quite a bit of fine print, but GM said the expanded warranty “helps customers manage the total cost of ownership at a time when affordable vehicle options are at the forefront.” They added, “In a crowded used-car market, we believe transparency, convenience and protection all go hand-in-hand.”
While CarBravo isn’t as well-known as some competitors, the website has over 16,000 vehicles listed in the United States. Many of them are newer GM vehicles, but they offer models from as far back as 2010. The site also has a mix of everything ranging from BMW Z4s and Mercedes S-Classes to Chevy Sparks and Buick Lucernes.
