Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.66 is coming January 30 and will add another trio of vehicles to Polyphony Digital’s latest racer. The update, according to its description, will expand the massive Gran Turismo 7 vehicle list even further and will mark another example of Sony properly maintaining its simulation racing title post-launch.
As has become customary, Gran Turismo series creator Kazunori Yamauchi shared a solid-black version of the reveal image prior to its official release. Gran Turismo updates frequently include events, physics adjustments, and AI improvements among their many additions, but Update 1.66 focuses mainly on cars, with one tuned for each discipline.
The Porsche 911 GT3 R is a race car engineered for GT3 class competition. With a naturally aspirated flat-six engine and sophisticated race aerodynamics, the GT3 R should satisfy players who like to tune for control and top endurance speeds.
The BMW M4 is a high-performance gran turismo (gran sport sedan). Unlike the GT3 R, the M4 can be driven daily. Featuring turbocharged power and strong cornering capabilities thanks to its dynamic chassis, players should find much use for the M4 in GT7’s various racing categories.
TCR touring cars such as the Hyundai Elantra N are manufactured to race exclusively on circuits. Offering a turbocharged powertrain, lightweight construction, and suspension calibrated for tight-pack racing, the Elantra N TCR will likely be another strong pick for head-to-head competition.
Gran Turismo 7 is a racing simulation video game developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game was released on March 4, 2022, for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Gran Turismo 7 features many improvements that are currently possible with next-generation consoles such as ray-traced reflections, DualSense controller haptic feedback, improved loading times with the PS5’s SSD, and support for 3D audio.
Gran Turismo 7 runs at up to 4K resolution at 60FPS with HDR support on PlayStation 5. Sony is continually showing support for Gran Turismo 7 with updates like 1.66 that slowly but surely add more to GT7’s content.
