It has been 28 years since the original Gran Turismo debuted in 1997. As of June 25, 2025, the Gran Turismo series surpassed 100 million units sold worldwide—a remarkable milestone in gaming history.
The development team extends their heartfelt gratitude to all Gran Turismo players and fans who have supported the series over the years, including our latest title, Gran Turismo 7.
To commemorate this achievement, we are excited to announce the upcoming release of Gran Turismo 7 “Spec III” this December. We invite you to join us as the next chapter in the Gran Turismo journey unfolds.
To pick up a video game box in a store, and line up at the cash register to purchase it; this action takes at least a few minutes to complete.
To think that this has happened more than 100 million times around the world really blows my mind.
To everyone in the automobile industry who has, and continues to, make automotive history; to everyone at Sony and all the retailers who have passionately supported the Gran Turismo series; and, of course, to all the players who have championed Gran Turismo over the past 28 years—
This monumental achievement of 100 million units sold was made possible because of you. Thank you very much.
We will strive to continue making great products into the future.
