SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – West Coast Construction and Cargo Loop hosted a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday for a new automotive logistics facility.
It’s set to be built on Telfair Road in Garden City.
The 240,000 square foot facility will feature vertical storage up to five cars tall as well as 40,000 feet of warehouse and office space.
The project is anticipated to bring economic growth to the region.
“We’re excited to start this project for Cargo Loop officially,” said George Woods, Principal of Salt Marsh Consulting. “It will be about a 240,000 square foot vehicle storage facility, transporting vehicles in and out of the port – so it’s tied right into the economy of Savannah. It’s gonna generate probably 50 to 60 new jobs and will have a big impact. Like I said, Cargo Loop is the seventh largest exporter of vehicles out of North America. They have terminals in New York, in Indianapolis, in New Jersey, and here in Savannah.”
The facility is set to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026.
