A dramatic police operation unfolded on the Sunshine Coast on Sunday morning after a stolen car crashed and its occupants fled into bushland.
Officers were called to Old Caloundra Rd at 11:14am, responding to reports that a red Mitsubishi Outlander had smashed into a property and the people inside had run.
The vehicle had reportedly been stolen earlier that morning from a business near the Bruce Hwy at Morayfield, with the driver allegedly threatened with a firearm.
Specialist officers attended the scene, recovering a firearm that had been abandoned, and an emergency declaration for the surrounding community was later lifted.
Both the stolen Mitsubishi and firearm seized for forensic testing.
Police confirmed investigations into the incidents are ongoing, no arrests have been made, and they urged anyone with relevant information or video footage to come forward.
