A new 911 restomod with fighter jet styling and 1000 hp just dropped at Monterey, and it’s unlike anything Gunther Werks has built before.
As it turns out, the one-of-three GWX wasn’t the only car that Gunther Werks has been working on. Unveiled alongside the GWX during Monterey Car Week is the new Project F-26. It might just be the most outlandish 911-based restomod on the planet and will be much more common than the GWX. However, with only 26 units scheduled to be built, it will remain extremely rare.
In building the F-26, Gunther Werks took inspiration from Porsche’s iconic Slantnose models, including the 936 Slantnose and 911 Slantnose. It’s also been built to mimic the aerodynamic shape of a fighter jet, and as such, is about as far removed from a Singer 911 as you can get. However, for buyers who want those classic 911 looks, but with modern hypercar performance, the F-26 might be just about perfect.

The beating heart of the car is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged air-cooled flat-six co-developed with Rothsport Racing and delivering an incredible 1,000 hp and 750 lb-ft (1,017 Nm) of torque. This engine includes a race-derived flat fan that’s said to provide more than double the cooling of a typical vertical fan. There is also a carbon fiber airbox, a redesigned intercooler plenum, and blow-off valves incorporated within the intake system.
This engine is mated exclusively to a six-speed manual and a limited-slip differential driving the rear wheels. To put the power to the ground, the F-26 has massive 295/30 front and 335/30 rear Continental ExtremeContact Force tires. Gunther has also added a new double-wishbone suspension to the front, adaptive JRZ dampers, an advanced traction control system and extended the wheelbase by 30 mm.
Visually, the F-26 rocks a bespoke front fascia with unique headlights and turn signals, as well as a grille similar in shape to the current 911 GT3. The wheel arches have been widened to accommodate the massive new shoes, while the rear end now rocks a bespoke LED light bar, a massive rear wing, and a custom diffuser. Most of the new parts are made from carbon fiber, resulting in the car tipping the scales at just 2,700 lbs (1,224 kg).
Much like the exterior, the cabin is entirely bespoke. It includes a carbon fiber dashboard, leather upholstery, and Alcantara across the headliner.
