A new trademark filing suggests a bespoke model could debut soon, possibly built on the 296 or 12Cilindri platform with unique exterior and interior design
For many enthusiasts, owning a Ferrari is a dream that takes years, if not decades, to achieve. For others, owning an off-the-shelf Ferrari isn’t enough. This is where the automaker’s Special Projects division comes into play, allowing wealthy customers to commission limited-run models and one-offs. The latest of these ultra-special cars could be just around the corner.
It’s now been revealed that in July, Ferrari filed to trademark the name ‘Ferrari HC25’ with the World Intellectual Property Office. The filling covers cars and all kinds of other accessories and merchandise, and certainly seems likely to reference a new model.

As reported by Road & Track, the ‘25’ could be in reference to 2025, although that name wouldn’t work so well if the car wasn’t actually unveiled this year. However, it may actually be in reference to a 25th anniversary of some kind.
Most of the recent cars produced by Ferrari Special Projects have followed a consistent naming pattern, using straightforward alphanumeric designations like SP38, P80/C, BR20, SP48, SP51, KC23, and, most recently, the F40-inspired SC40.
Which Ferrari Could It Be Based On?
The name HC25 doesn’t offer any clear hint as to which Ferrari model might serve as its foundation. The SC40 was built on the 296 GTB platform, while the SP-8, introduced in 2023, was derived from the F8, Ferrari’s mid-engined V8 supercar at the time.
It seems unlikely that the HC25 would draw from the Roma Spider, the Amalfi concept, the Purosangue SUV, or the F80. That narrows the plausible candidates to the 12Cilindri, the 296, and the recently unveiled 849 Testarossa.
Whatever platform the HC25 ends up using, it’s safe to expect only minimal changes to the powertrain. Ferrari tends to keep mechanical components largely intact on Special Projects builds, focusing instead on creating distinctive exterior and interior designs.
Some of these one-offs lean into heritage styling, while others take on a far more futuristic, angular look. As for the HC25, its design direction remains a mystery for now.
