Buying a used car from Hertz has gotten even easier.
On Tuesday, the Estero-based car rental giant announced the launch of a fully online car-buying capability at HertzCarSales.com.
Shoppers can now browse, finance and purchase vehicles entirely online nationwide through an enhanced digital platform.
The enhanced platform builds on Hertz’s recent partnership with Amazon Autos. That collaboration allows Hertz’s customers to browse, finance and schedule vehicle pickup directly through Amazon. Initially launched in four cities, the program has now expanded to all Hertz Car Sales locations across the U.S., including in Southwest Florida.
Hertz is Amazon Autos’ first fleet dealer. The dealer’s oft-rotating fleet includes well-known and trusted vehicle brands, such as Ford, Toyota, Chevrolet and Nissan.
Now, HertzCarSales.com has transformed from an online catalog into a full-service e-commerce platform for buying cars.
“Our new e-commerce platform marks a major step forward in modernizing how we serve our customers with a seamless journey from browsing to ownership,” said Gil West, Hertz’s CEO, in a statement. “By enhancing our digital capabilities, we’re meeting customers where they are and giving them greater visibility into our inventory, easier purchasing processes, and broader access to quality Hertz vehicles. This also marks a critical milestone in executing our strategy to make retail our primary car selling channel.”
Over the past year, Hertz has focused on growing its retail channels for selling used cars. That includes an expansion of its Rent2Buy program, which allows customers to rent a car for up to three days at a special rate before deciding whether to purchase it.
According to Hertz, the expansion of its retail channels has led to record-breaking sales. The company recently reported its “best second quarter for retail vehicle sales in half a decade.”
Hertz has teamed up with NFL legend Tom Brady to help market its expanded online capabilities. The campaign, launched Oct. 1, will highlight the ease of buying Hertz’s used cars online, or at one of the company’s 45 retail locations nationwide. The campaign will run across social media, digital channels and streaming platforms.
Brady has worked as a brand ambassador for Hertz since 2021. He was first hired to market the company’s electric cars.
At any one time, Hertz Car Sales has thousands of vehicles for sale, which are often priced below Kelley Blue Book suggested values, or market prices. Additionally, vehicles must undergo and pass a rigorous 115-point inspection and are backed by a 12-month/12,000-mile limited powertrain warranty – on top of any remaining factory new vehicle warranty.
The vehicles come with 24-hour roadside assistance, and a seven-day/250-mile buy-back guarantee.
Hertz offers flexible financing options from top lenders, and provides detailed vehicle history and condition reports.
With the constant rotation of its fleet, Hertz sells hundreds of thousands of cars annually. That makes it one of the largest used car dealers in the country.
