In the market for a used car?
Buyers could find it easier through a new partnership between Hertz Car Sales and Amazon Autos.
On Aug. 20, Hertz announced shoppers can now browse, finance and purchase its used cars through the online car buying marketplace of e-commerce giant Amazon.
Hertz, one of the world’s leading rental car companies, is also one of the largest used car dealers in the United States, selling thousands of vehicles each year.
Based in Estero, Florida, the company has used car sales locations nationwide.
The collaboration with Amazon Autos is part of Hertz’s broader transformation strategy, including a more seamless customer experience.
“Our goal is to reimagine the car-buying experience and meet customers where they are – whether online or in person – with convenience, confidence and scale,” said Jeff Adams, Executive Vice President of Hertz Car Sales, in a statement. “Amazon Autos is the ideal partner to help us deliver on this, as customers can shop our expansive inventory of high-quality used cars on the same trusted marketplace where millions shop every day.”
Hertz is Amazon Autos’ first fleet dealer. Its oft-rotating fleet includes well-known and trusted vehicle brands, such as Ford, Toyota, Chevrolet and Nissan.
“This collaboration allows us to offer an expanded selection of well-maintained vehicles from more dealerships across the country, while maintaining the simplicity that customers expect from Amazon,” said Fan Jin, global head of Amazon Autos, in a statement.
Customers can now browse Hertz’s vehicles on Amazon Autos, complete their purchase online, and then pick up their vehicle at Hertz Car Sales locations.
The program will first launch in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and Seattle, with plans to expand the services to Hertz Car Sales’ 45 locations nationwide.
To browse Hertz’s available inventory, shoppers can search “Hertz vehicles” on Amazon Autos. Available vehicles within 75 miles of a customer’s location will pop up.
According to Hertz, the collaboration will give shoppers the ability to choose from thousands of quality pre-owned vehicles , offered at competitive prices, often below Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value.
The vehicles up for sale undergo a rigorous, 115-point inspection to ensure safety. They’re backed by a 12-month/12,000-mile limited powertrain warranty and come with 24-hour roadside assistance and a seven-day/250-mile buy-back guarantee.
Buyers can find flexible financing options from top lenders and get access to detailed vehicle histories and condition reports before making a decision. Purchases can be completed easily with an e-signature.
The collaboration builds on Amazon Autos’ recent expansion into used vehicle sales.
The online car sales platform launched in December 2024, with Hyundai as the first participating manufacturer, in 48 cities, focused on new vehicles, according to Automotive News.
Amazon now has participating dealers in more than 130 U.S. cities.
