
Images from the scene revealed orange flames leaping above the motors, close to a Christmas tree display, whilst smoke poured across the car park, and shocked shoppers watched on. A witness reported the car park was ‘sealed off’ as both fire teams and paramedics arrived. Two fire appliances attended the location and doused the flames, the fire service has confirmed.

The origin of the initial blaze remains unknown, however it is not being considered suspicious or intentional, Manchester Evening News reports.

“Crews arrived quickly and used breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire. Firefighters remain in attendance.”
