The San Marcos Police Department posted an update from the scene at 11 a.m. that the northbound I-35 is closed at MM 197 York Creek due to multiple crashes on the highway. At 10:40 a.m., the department also shared images of I-35's icy conditions and showing at least two cars involved in the collision. A police unit and members of the San Marcos Fire Department were photographed inspecting the scene, while SMPD used the post to stress extra caution for anyone planning to hit the road.
"Road conditions are dangerous across the city," SMPD wrote on Facebook. "Overpasses and bridges are iced over. Avoid all unnecessary travel. Northbound I-35 traffic is being diverted to the frontage roads. Expect delays and hazardous driving conditions. If you do not have to be out, stay inside. Stay warm. Stay safe."
