SEATTLE — A collision involving a Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) work truck and three cars has caused significant traffic disruptions on northbound Interstate 5 near South 272nd Street in Federal Way on Thursday afternoon.
The incident occurred at around 3 p.m., shutting down four lanes; all northbound lanes reopened at around 5:00 p.m.
The WSDOT work truck, which was stationed on the shoulder to protect a guardrail repair, was unoccupied at the time of the crash, according to Washington State Patrol (WSP).
Fortunately, there were no injuries to the crew or any life-threatening injuries reported among those involved in the collision, WSP said.
As of 4:30 p.m., two of the lanes that had been closed on I-5 northbound are now back open, but the two right lanes remained closed near 272nd Street (MP 146), WSDOT said.
Emergency crews, WSP, and Incident Command are currently on site managing the situation, according to WSDOT.
