Kia Syros EV is making waves in the automotive world, with test mules spotted on multiple occasions, albeit under heavy camouflage. While we don’t have the full picture yet, the electric version of the Kia Syros promises several key updates that could give the nameplate a much-needed boost. Let’s take a closer look at what we can expect from the upcoming Syros EV.

Kia Syros EV will feature some clear design changes to set it apart from its ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) counterpart. Expect a closed-off grille for improved aerodynamics, EV-specific badging, and a floating centre console inside. These changes should help the Syros EV look and feel like a modern electric vehicle, aligning with Kia’s signature design elements.

Kia Syros has always been known for its tall boy stance, maximizing cabin space without increasing overall size. Despite its compact dimensions, the Syros doesn’t feel cramped. The cabin is roomy, providing comfortable seating for passengers. When compared to other sub-4m cars, the Syros stands out for offering a more spacious feel.

Kia Syros is packed with tech features designed to enhance the driving experience. One of the standout features is the tri-cluster display, which is responsive and visually appealing. For rear-seat passengers, the Syros offers rear-seat ventilation, a rare feature in the sub-Rs. 20 lakh segment, making it an attractive option for those who value comfort.

Despite a strong market entry, the Syros faced a sharp decline in sales. Originally positioned between the Sonet and Seltos, its high pricing led to a loss of identity, cooling demand significantly. What’s more, certain design elements like the
headlight placement have been prone to damage, affecting its appeal. The soft rear suspension also caused discomfort for passengers, especially when the car was fully loaded.

Kia is hoping that the Syros EV will address the shortcomings of the ICE version. The new electric powertrain will likely come with two battery options – 42kWh with a 71.1kW motor (147Nm torque) and a 49kWh setup with an 84.5kW motor (147Nm torque). The higher-end configuration should offer a 355 km range, with fast-charging capabilities, charging from 10-80% in just 30 minutes via a 120kW DC charger.

The electric Syros will also feature a stiffer suspension due to its underbody battery pack, improving rear seat comfort. With Kia’s expertise in electric technology, the Syros EV is expected to offer a thrilling, responsive driving experience compared to its ICE counterpart.

While Kia has yet to officially announce the launch date, we expect the Syros EV to be showcased in 2026. This could mark a turning point for the nameplate, allowing Kia to tap into the growing demand for electric vehicles in India.
