A former child star has been killed in a hit-and-run car accident.
Kianna Underwood—who appeared on the Nickelodeon show All That in 2005—died Jan. 16 after being struck by a car in Brooklyn, New York, law enforcement sources told multiple outlets. She was 33.
Police responded to a 911 call around 6:49 a.m. local time and learned that a gray car hit an "unidentified female" who "sustained severe trauma to the head and body," the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information told Page Six
Underwood was hit while crossing the street at Pitkin Avenue and Mother Gaston Boulevard in the Brownsville neighborhood and was then dragged under the car for nearly two blocks, law enforcement sources told TMZ.
Police said she was pronounced deceased at the scene, with the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information adding that the driver “did not remain on scene.”
No arrests are reported to have been made, and authorities continue to investigate.
Born in New York, Underwood kickstarted her career by voicing characters in the animated show Little Bill from 1999 to 2004, later appearing on seven episodes of All That, starring Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon and Kenan Thompson.
The sketch comedy show indeed launched the career of many child stars.
For Bynes, joining All That in 1996 "was a dream come true," as she told Paper magazine in 2018, "It was unbelievable to me."
Likewise, Thompson has previously spoken about how the show gave him his start in Hollywood.
"It means everything to me," he told Variety in 2019. "It was my first job that I ever had. It gave me an opportunity."
The Saturday Night Live star even signed on to be an executive producer of a rebooted version of the program, which starred newcomers Nathan Janak, Kate Godfrey and Lex Lumpkin for one season, ending in 2020.
When Nickelodeon president Brian Robbins pitched the idea, Thompson called it a "no-brainer" to rejoin, adding, "Every time he does that, he has been right on the money. He has done it infinite times in my life."
