Lamborghini has unveiled the first renders of the Temerario Super Trofeo, the Italian manufacturer’s new one-make racing vehicle that will debut in the Super Trofeo North America, Europe and Asia series in 2027.
The Temerario will succeed the Huracán in Super Trofeo after the latter made its debut in 2015, and has since received two Evo upgrades in 2018 and 2022. The new Temerario Super Trofeo’s 2027 racing debut will follow that of the Temerario GT3, which is on schedule to make its worldwide racing debut at the 2026 Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, said at today’s launch: “In 2009 we made the bold decision to launch the Gallardo Super Trofeo. Lamborghini was not born as a racing brand, yet our customers – more than 1,300 drivers have competed in Super Trofeo – have constantly asked us for a product designed for the track.
"Over the years, Super Trofeo and customer racing have become a true pillar of our long-term company strategy, strengthening the bond between the brand and its most passionate clients. With the Temerario Super Trofeo we are taking another decisive step, reaffirming our promise to deliver a pure race car for the growing community that joins us during the Lamborghini Super Trofeo weekends.”
Since 2009, Lamborghini Super Trofeo has run more than 560 races across North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East with the Gallardo and Huracán.
The Temerario Super Trofeo will use the same twin-turbo V8 engine and six-speed sequential gearbox as the GT3 model, with many of its components derived from the Temerario GT3. This, Lamborghini says, will make the car a "perfect training ground" for professional and amateur drivers to climb the ladder from Super Trofeo to GT3.
It features an aluminum/carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFK) hybrid chassis, a fully integrated FIA roll cage, 12-point adjustable traction control, and anti-lock brakes.
"The Temerario Super Trofeo is the ultimate expression of our ‘fun-to-drive’ philosophy. We created a car that is the pure racing evolution of the road going Temerario,” said Rouven Mohr, chief technical officer of Lamborghini. “Thanks to its direct link to the Temerario GT3, which shares many components, including the engine and gearbox – it is the ideal entry point for those eager to experience the world of GT competition.”
