Border Patrol agents in Laredo, Texas, reportedly fired at a moving vehicle during one of their operations on Saturday, in an incident captured on video and shared widely online.
Footage appears to show a white vehicle attempting to flee as federal officers fired as it moved, according to posts accompanying the video. One such post said: “CBP in Laredo fires at a driver who rams their vehicle and then flees. Laredo police are in tow because the police in Texas actually help to enforce immigration laws.”
The video and posts have circulated widely on social media, but authorities have not yet released an official account of the circumstances or whether anyone was injured.
The incident comes amid widespread protests against federal immigration enforcement officers after recent fatal shootings by federal agents in Minneapolis, killing Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
Officials from US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and local law enforcement are seen in images from the area, but it is not clear from the available material whether the Laredo operation was linked to a specific enforcement action such as a traffic stop or attempted arrest.
