A car hit a Lee County deputy on Monday afternoon while he was directing traffic near Tramway Elementary School.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said a car collided with another one, and it struck the deputy near the school at 360 Center Church Road in Sanford.

The sheriff’s office said the deputy was alert and conscious at the scene.
Authorities took the deputy to UNC Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
