As if making a hole-in-one wasn’t enough of a prize in itself, one LPGA player earned an actual prize for one on Thursday. And a particularly nice one at that.
Lucy Li aced the par-3 13th hole at Pine Beach Golf Links during the first round of the BMW Ladies Championship, holing a 7-iron from 155 yards. It also earned the former child prodigy the keys to a new BMW i7.
“It was a good number into the wind. Hit it right at the pin. Thought it might end up a little short, but it went in,” Li said after. “I just started freaking out. I was like, ‘This is the hole-in-one hole.’ I’ve been complaining all week to my caddie about having not holed out this year. The whole week I was like, ‘I haven’t holed out this year. I haven’t holed out since Blue Bay.’
“I was complaining to him and everyone. I was like, ‘I think I’m due a hole-in-one.’ It was nice to get one there.”
Well, she certainly can’t complain anymore. That’s about as well-timed of first career LPGA hole-in-one as possible. Anyway, here’s video of the ace:

Li got it all the way to six under on her round—Sei Young Kim leads after an opening 10-under-par 62—before a double bogey on her final hole. That had to sting a bit, but probably less so considering what she’ll be walking driving away with.
