Lucid builds some pretty amazing all-electric luxury vehicles. The firm’s Air sedan is sleek – and for a four-door car, incredibly spacious inside – while the larger Gravity SUV has room for the whole family and offers lots of great technology. Drivers that love performance should also appreciate this brand because the Air Sapphire model has a staggering 1,234 horsepower and can hit 60 mph in less than 2 seconds. To keep things interesting, the automaker just teased a new Gravity trim level in a short video clip, though we’re not entirely sure what this means.
Lasting just 15 seconds, this teaser shows the front end of what appears to be a Gravity utility vehicle. A light strip runs across the car’s face, and the prominent Lucid lettering is illuminated, too. Setting the mood is ominous-sounding music and a bit of fog. Spooky!
After that, there’s a hard cut to the vehicle’s interior, with actor Timothée Chalamet sliding behind the wheel just as the dashboard displays light up. Why the young Franco-American actor who’s perhaps best known for starring in director Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films? Well, because he and the automaker signed multi-year partnership that was announced back in late July.
This teaser video is titled “The journey begins: 09.04.25 | Lucid x Timothée Chalamet,” with the September 4, 2025 date briefly showing up on the screen before it cuts to an animated version of the Lucid Gravity wordmark. It sounds like the automaker is developing a new or otherwise special version of this all-electric SUV, but what that is, remains to be seen.
At Monterey Car Week last month, Lucid unveiled a new concept vehicle called the Gravity X. A pumped-up, trail-ready version of this family-friendly SUV, the Gravity X features unique styling elements, enhanced approach and departure angles, all-terrain tires and even tow hooks. Could Lucid be building a production version of this design study? That wouldn’t be an unreasonable assumption, especially when you consider that none of this concept’s fancy features are outlandish. Pretty much everything Lucid added to this vehicle make sense, and would be relatively easy to implement.
The Gravity available today offers up to 828 hp, a staggering amount, plus this vehicle offers up to 450 miles of range, another great showing. Depending on how it’s equipped, this SUV can take in up to 200 miles of range after as little as 11 minutes of charging.
