A serious crash has closed the M11 this morning (Tuesday, August 26). A lorry and a car were involved in the crash, which has left the road closed in both directions near Cambridge.
A vehicle drove through the central reservation, according to traffic monitoring company Inrix. The East of England Ambulance Service has confirmed that three people were injured, including one person who has suffered serious injuries.
Traffic is queueing from junction 11 (Cambridge Road) to junction 12 (Grantchester Road), and moving slowly on some of the main routes through Cambridge as traffic diverts – including the A1134 (Queens Road).
National Highways first reported the incident at 5.16am and is describing the crash as "serious". The road is likely to remain closed until this afternoon, according to National Highways.
A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called at about 4.50am today with reports of a collision on the M11 at junction 11 Trumpington involving a car and a lorry. Emergency services are at the scene. There are significant delays."

There are severe delays along the M11 from junction 11 at the A10 Cambridge South and Harston up to junction 12 at Cambridge. This is due to emergency repairs taking place.
Traffic monitoring site Inrix says: "M11 in both directions closed, severe delays due to emergency repairs and earlier accident from J11 A10 (Cambridge South / Harston) to J12 (Cambridge). Congestion to Local roads surrounding both junctions, especially Trumpington road into and out of Cambridge."
