The M25 was partially closed on Saturday afternoon following a car fire. National Highways said the motorway was closed clockwise between junctions 25 (Waltham Cross) and 27 (M11). 
The Essex Fire Service attended the scene, and a diversion was put in place for motorists in the area. More traffic woes for drivers on the M25 were recorded today between junctions 16 and 17, where National Highways recorded “severe” congestion.

Normal traffic conditions have returned on the M25 between J25 and 27 following the vehicle fire. 
Elsewhere, minor congestion was reported on the M25 anticlockwise exit slip at J20 after 6pm, as well as more moderate traffic on the M25 clockwise exit slip at junction J21A.

National Highways said it expects normal traffic conditions to return by 4.15 and 4.30pm. 
A car believed to be the one that prompted the partial closure of the M25 was pictured. 
The wreck of the vehicle appears to have been nearly entirely destroyed by the fire.
