A crash closed one lane of the M4 this morning, causing queuing traffic along the motorway. At 6.25am Traffic Wales South warned drivers of an incident that closed the M4 westbound from junction 38 Margam to junction 39 Groes.
Just before 6am it was reported to South Wales Police that a car had veered off the road onto the grass embankment the road reopened at 7.30am.
No serious injuries have been reported and the vehicle was recovered on the M4 westbound between junction 36 and Margam Road.
At first traffic was coping well however as commuters headed to work around 8am traffic began to queue along the stretch of road in Bridgend from junction 36 A4061 (Bridgend / Sarn Service Area) to junction 37 A4229 (Pyle / Porthcawl) as well as junction 38 Margam.
AA traffic reported severe delays of around 20 minutes due to the earlier crash.
The website monitoring the traffic states: "Severe delays of 18 minutes and delays easing on M4 Westbound between J36 A4061 (Bridgend / Sarn Service Area) and A48 Margam Road (Margam). Average speed 15 mph."
Traffic is now easing along the M4 after the incident this morning as along shorter delays are still being recorded at around 17 minutes in Bridgend.

One lane was closed due to the incident but it has since reopened at around 7.30a but traffic remains slow in the area.
AA traffic cameras are monitoring the traffic along the M4 due to the incident this morning. They have reported a severe delay of around 26 minutes of queuing traffic.
AA wrote: "Severe delays of 26 minutes and delays increasing on M4 Westbound between J36 A4061 (Bridgend / Sarn Service Area) and A48 Margam Road (Margam). Average speed ten mph."
Google Mpas shows the slow moving traffic along the M4 due to the crash this morning.
