Traffic has been halted sparking lengthy delays along the M40 after a car flipped over in a horror crash.
Emergency services raced to the M40 northbound in Oxfordshire between J10 and J11. National Highways East said it was due to a collision involving an overturned car.
The car overturned between J10 (Brackley/ Cherwell Valley Services) and J11 (Banbury).
People have reported seeing a tailback going back for "miles." The AA reported roads being "closed" due to the crash.
South Central Ambulance Service confirmed that multiple people were involved in the crash, with an eight-year-old girl suffering 'potentially serious injuries'.
A spokesperson said: "We received multiple 999 calls around 12:35 all reporting a car having left the M40 between junctions 10 and 11 northbound and then having rolled over and ended upside down in a ditch.
"We sent a rapid response vehicle, four ambulances and the Thames Valley Air Ambulance critical care car to the incident, and police, fire and rescue and highways agency services also responded to the scene.
"There were five people in the vehicle – three adults (two male, one female) and two children, a girl aged eight and a boy aged four.
"Unfortunately the girl had sustained potentially serious injuries, with the remaining passengers sustaining minor injuries. All five have been taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for further assessment and treatment, with the air ambulance team travelling in the ambulance with the young girl."
