Drivers should prepare for long delays on the M4 westbound
A MAJOR motorway has ground to a halt after a four-car crash where emergency services rushed to rescue a person trapped in their vehicle.
The M4 is at a standstill after two accidents happened only 200 metres apart causing all three motorway lanes to close.

Emergency services raced to the westbound carriageway this morning and hydraulic cutting equipment was needed to rescue a trapped person.
Moments later a second call was made for another accident only 200 metres from the first.
Drivers are facing severe delays following the smash near junction 28 for Newport and one lane remains closed.
Long delays were reported on the motorway in the Newport area, from junction 28 to junction 30.

A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “SWFRS received a call at approximately 07.28 am to reports of a RTC on the M4 Westbound, Junction 28 Tredegar Park to Junction 29 Castleton.
“Crews and appliances from Duffryn, Roath and Malpas stations attended and used hydraulic cutting equipment to free a person in the vehicle. The crews subsequently cleared the area.
“Police and the ambulance service were also in attendance.
“Shortly afterwards, at a call was received regarding a RTC involving four cars within 200 metres of the initial call and the crews and appliances who were on-scene, cleared the carriageway, using Gojacks. The stop message was given at 08.13 am.”
